The Challenge:
49th State Brewing Co. challenged us to develop a bold brewery brand design that would “look Alaskan” without falling into cliché traps.
Execution:
We set out to capture the unrelenting spirit of the Great Alaskan Experience as a style and tone, rather than draw a picture of it. The iconic illustrations on these cans were developed with an artist based near Alaska with a strong understanding of native Alaskan art & design. Vibrant colors, a remarkably modern take on Alaskan heritage and thoughtful typography.

The modern frontier.
An evolution on the existing brand identity that featured Alaskan mountains and and type locked up in a badge. We reinterpreted this into a cleaner, more contemporary impression and then built out a complete identity system.
